All revisions are different, thus a detailed knowledge and experience in this complicated matter is a necessity.  Many bariatric practices do not do revisions.  The Surgical Weight Loss Team at NWH is regularly called upon by other practices to teach or proctor revision techniques to established surgeons.

Reasons people have revisions:
 

• Weight regain after bypass
• Failure to lose weight or symptoms following lap band
• Breakdown of staples causing fistula
• Stricture or ulcer
